From one view point - the claimed origin - there are three types of ethical systems: God-Made-systems (such as Islam), Man-Made-systems (such as Liberalism) and hybrid systems (such as Liberal Christianity). The major widely accepted systems of the three types share a lot in their basics, otherwise they would most probably not be widely accepted for a long time. The first ethical problem we face is to honestly adhere to the basics of a major system. Honest adherents are not frequent, but are very valuable for the society and they are more likely to find and share the truth.

Democracy is not an ethical system, it is political tool in the hands of people to make politics more ethical.

The question of God's existence and nature is politically very important, so is the question of finding the best ethical system (the most scientific one we can afford to understand).
